Originally from Chicago, Steve has lived in many places, including San Francisco and the bay area, Los Angeles, Iowa, New York City, Prague and London. More recently, after living in the East Village of NYC for ten years, he relocated to New Orleans in early 2007, where he lives in a great big house in the Marigny with his cat Lunar.
He spent many years as an actor, playwright and director in both California and New York, while acquiring an addiction to traveling the world. Eventually, his love of photography grew from fascination to obsession. He studied mostly at the International Center of Photography in NY, and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, in Brooklyn, Manhattan and New Orleans.
Though fairly prolific in the modern arts of digital shooting and editing, Steve is very proud of his fully-functional studio darkroom, and in addition to traditional B&W darkroom photography, also enjoys exploring non-traditional techniques such as Polaroid emulsion lifts and transfers, Lumen prints and shooting on obsolete and/or vintage photo makers.
